What you can protect

A Cloud Connect repository is a backup target, so anything your Veeam installation already protects can be copied to it:

• Virtual machines — VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, via Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Physical servers and workstations — Windows and Linux, via Veeam Agent, either managed centrally or standalone.
• Existing backup jobs — you do not have to re-architect anything. A backup copy job points your current jobs at our repository as a second target.

Already backing up to a NAS or a local appliance? That stays exactly as it is. Cloud Connect becomes the offsite copy, which is the part most businesses are missing when something goes wrong on site.

The 3-2-1 rule, without buying a second site

The long-standing backup principle is three copies of your data, on two different types of media, with one copy offsite. Most businesses manage the first two comfortably and stall on the third, because the traditional answer was tape rotation or a second office.

That offsite copy is the one that matters when a site is lost to fire or flood, when hardware fails outright, or when ransomware encrypts everything reachable on the network — including, very often, the backup server itself. A Cloud Connect repository is reachable only through Veeam's own protocol with your credentials; it is not a network share an infected machine can find and encrypt.

Insider Protection extends that further. Deleted backups move to a recycle bin that is not visible from your Veeam console, so an attacker with your credentials — or someone acting maliciously from inside your business — still cannot destroy the offsite copy.

How it works

1. Tell us your allocation. Use the calculator below to size it. If you are not sure, the total size of your current backup files is the number to start from.
2. We provision the repository and send you a service provider address, a username and a password.
3. Add us in your Veeam console. Backup Infrastructure → Service Providers → Add. Paste in the details and your repository appears alongside your local storage.
4. Create a backup copy job targeting the new repository. Veeam handles the first seed and then sends only changed blocks, encrypted before they leave your network.
